Slip-On Exhausts

Slip-on exhausts are easy to install canisters that are available in several high performance materials including aluminum, titanium and carbon fiber. Slip-on exhausts systems are generally used on street motorcycles and racing sport bikes since it is more cost effective than replacing the entire system and these types of bikes are not used nearly as much as cruisers and touring bikes so spending thousands of dollars on a full system replacement may not be necessary.

Many modern sport bikes have most of the restrictions placed in the baffles which are located in the canisters so if you want to give your bike a more powerful sound changing the canister is all you need to do. Cruiser bikes and touring motorcycles usually have to replace the entire system to achieve the deep throaty sound bikers prefer. Slip-on exhausts are lighter and cheaper than full systems and can be easily installed with a wrench and few screwdrivers.

Another reason slip-on exhausts are popular with street bikes and racing motorcycles is the ability to mount these systems higher up on the bike to increase ground clearance. Sport bikes take turns much different than a cruiser and the chances of the exhaust scraping the ground lead many street bike owners to place the slip-on exhaust canister higher up to avoid scrapes and damage. A higher mounted exhaust is also a good fit for sports bikes since these motorcycles rarely have passengers on the back the way a cruiser would so there is no worries about exhaust fumes or hot pipes getting in the way of a passengers body.
